Dates Set For Eagles-Pharaohs Showdown

Nigerians won’t be happy if the Super Eagles fail to qualify for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon. The former African champions have been grouped along side Egypt, Chad and Tanzania.
With just two months to the start of the qualifiers Nigeria are yet to name a coach that will be in charge of the Super Eagles though the Nigerians have played series of friendlies in 2015.
Possible dates for the games have been set. Nigeria will start the qualifiers at home against Chad on 13-14 June 2015 then regroup to face Tanzania away from home on 5-6 September 2015. On 25-26 March 2016 Egypt will be guest to Nigeria then few days later on 28-29 March 2016 Nigeria will play as guest to Egypt. The last two matches, away to Chad and at home to Tanzania, are set to take place on 4-5 June 2016 and 3-4 September 2016 respectively.
Chad and Nigeria have never met before now and will be meeting for the first time when the qualifiers start, however, there have been meetings between Nigeria, Tanzania and Egypt.
Nigeria will most likely continue its bragging right over Tanzania when they meet during the qualifiers having recorded three wins and a draw against the East African country.
Egypt have also missed out on the previous AFCON and the Pharaohs will be a hard nut for the Nigerians to crack. The counties have met on 17 occasions with Egypt having a slim advantage. Egypt have recorded six wins over Nigeria while the Super Eagles have come out victorious five times. The countries have shared the spoils six times.
